Suggested use: Give your table a center accent. Use as a trivet for warm dishes.

Handwoven on: 12” rigid heddle loom with a 10-dent reed.
Special weaving technique: Plain weave, with doubled warp, and two different yarn thicknesses for texture.

Finishing touches: Rolled, sewn hem and ‘Handwoven by Interlace’ fabric care label.
Weaving note: Sometimes when I weave a new design or use a yarn, or a combination of yarn, in a way I had not before, well,…sometimes the final result turns out differently than I had anticipated. This is one of those cases.
The beautiful color I wove in horizontally across the loom (see image below) vanished when I dunked the centerpieces into water to wet- finish them: the regular pre-shrinking I do caused the yellow, pink, green, and orange cotton yarn to hide beneath the toffee and jam warp. In my original plan, in the vision I had in mind, the spring colors would make the centerpiece pop like a bloom on a branch. Sadly, this is not what the water and the relaxed tension off of the loom created. The positives are that the design created the corrugated texture I was going for (yay!), and that the colors peek out of the edges, giving each centerpiece a delightful ruffled look.
What does this result mean? I have more exploratory weaving to do! Fun! And, someone gets to enjoy these textural squares, knowing that bright color is hidden inside, like a bud hiding its floral beauty. Spring is on its way!
