Colorful Coasters (Set of 4): Soft shields between surface and cup

Colorful Coasters with display mugs,
1 November 2024.

Making these coasters is a lot of fun. I get to play with color combinations and where to place the horizontal stripe (the flexible part of the running stitch pattern). Plus, I am always tickled with how these coasters can start out looking scraggly on the loom and then, after the finishing touches off of the loom, they are tidy and clearly made for their purpose ~ yet each still retain their own individuality.

Suggested use: Protect your furniture and claim your cup (or glass, or mug)! Individually colored coasters brighten your table, protect surfaces, and help you and your guests keep track of your drinkware.

Materials: 100% cotton in various colors, warp in Licorice and Natural (woven December 2023-present)

Dimensions: approximately 4.5”x5” (11.43×12.7 cm), including fringe

Care: Hand or machine wash warm or cold with regular or delicate laundry soap ~ air or machine dry on low. Press if desired.

Handwoven on12” rigid heddle loom with a 12.5-dent reed

Special weaving technique: Plain weave with running stitch color-and-weave

Finishing touches: Hemstitching, and a metal ‘handmade’ hand charm on the bundling cord. The cord was made with a lucet.

Brilliant Tip: Use the cord that wraps up the coasters as a unique ribbon around the next gift you give to a treasured friend!
